2018 - Madeleine Pintoff, 17, Viola,USA
Violist Madeleine Pintoff lives in New York City and studies with Sophie Arbuckle at the Juilliard School, Pre-College division. As an orchestral musician, she has served as principal of Juilliard’s Pre-College Orchestra and Pre-College Symphony. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed in master classes, including those with Ani Kavafian, Daniel Phillips, and the Shanghai Quartet, and recently attended the Heifetz International Music Institute. She has won first prize in numerous competitions, including the Camerata Artists International Solo competition, Vivo International Music Competition, and the East Coast International Music Competition, leading to performances at Weill Hall and Merkin Hall. Outside of music, she enjoys bird-watching in Central Park and spending time with her dog.
2018 - Jayden Lamcellari, 16, Cello , Ireland
Jayden Lamcellari began his studies at the age of three with his Father Enrien ,an Albanian born Cellist. Jayden joined the RIAM to study with Bill Butt when he was nine years old. He excelled in his examinations & was awarded scholarships to continue his studies. Jayden won the under fifteen ’cello competition at Feis Ceoil at 12 years of age he was the youngest winner in the history of his category . In September 2017 he began his studies at The Royal Academy of Music In London under full scholarship. The same year he was awarded full scholarships to The Royal College of Music in London, Guildhall as well as Juilliard in New York. Most recently he appeared on “The Late Late Show “ on Irish National TV, where he performed Paganini Caprice 24. He has won The Grand Virtuoso International Competition in Vienna in February 2018 and made his debut in the famous Musikverein hall in Vienna in March this year. This summer Jayden was awarded a scholarship to attend The Philadelphia International Music Festival under the solo performance program. Jayden was recently awarded the Elton John scholarship at the Royal Academy of music in London.
2017- Katherine E. Liu, 13 , PIANO, USA
Katherine E. Liu, 13, is an 8th grader living in Wellesley, MA. Hailed by the press, “Katherine Liu, blows us away with her piano prowess & admirable aspirations...” She has received top prizes in numerous regional and international piano competitions – Grand Prix at the Chopin International Piano Competition in Connecticut and the Soloists of New England Competition, and first place at the III Krystian Tkaczewski International Piano Competition in Poland, the NEPTA Mildred Freiberg Middle School Competition, the Martha B. Sosman Concerto Competition, the Steinway Society Piano Competition and the Bay State Piano Competition, among many others. She has been featured on WCRB 99.5 with host Cathy Fuller, and made her appearance on NPR's From the Top with host Christopher O'Riley at Jordan Hall in 2016. Currently Katherine studies with HaeSun Paik at New England Conservatory. In her free time, she loves to read, swim, dance and explore the art of mathematics.
